PTT Radio and Guard Patrol FAQs
Answers on range, coverage, offline patrols, pricing and support.
How far can a cellular PTT radio reach?+
Anywhere with 4G, 5G or Wi-Fi coverage. Range is set by the mobile network, not by repeaters or terrain, so a team in Johannesburg can talk to a colleague in Cape Town.
What happens when there is no cellular signal?+
Cellular radios need a mobile or Wi-Fi connection. For sites without signal, we connect traditional radios through a radio bridge so both work together.
Can cellular radios talk to our existing radios?+
Yes. A radio bridge connects your current radio network, so traditional and cellular users talk on the same groups.
Can I rent radios instead of buying them?+
Yes. Radios come as a rental package from R185 ex VAT per device, per month, with the device, SIM and software included.
What is a guard patrol system?+
A guard patrol system records that guards visited each checkpoint on their route, at the right time.
How do guards scan checkpoints?+
With an NFC tag, QR code, beacon or virtual checkpoint, scanned from the guard’s device at each point on the route.
Does the guard patrol system work offline?+
Yes. Scans keep recording where signal drops, and sync when the device reconnects.
Can my clients see patrol reports?+
Yes. Incident reports can be emailed straight to the client as proof of service.
How do I get pricing?+
See the pricing page for our monthly rental packages, or request a quote for your team.
How long does setup take?+
It depends on the number of sites and checkpoints. We confirm a timeline after the virtual site survey.
Where do you deliver and support?+
We deliver devices across South Africa and support you remotely.
Is our data stored in line with POPIA?+
Yes. Data handling follows POPIA.
